The mobile store is drowning in puzzle games, and most of them are the same match-three template with a new coat of paint. The good ones are rare, and they share a few traits worth naming.

First, a good puzzle is solvable through logic, not guesswork. Hollow Lantern nails this — every solution clicks into place once you notice the right detail. That 'aha' moment is the entire reward, and games that bury it behind trial-and-error miss the point.
